In short
The Storyloka app collects no personal information at all: no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no cloud. This website has no cookies or trackers. If a grown-up joins the waitlist, we keep only that email address, to send one message when the app opens.
Who we are
This policy covers the Storyloka app and the Storyloka website. They are run by Storyloka ("we", "us"). Questions about privacy can go to our contact page (an email address will be added before launch).
The app: what we collect
Nothing. The app has no sign-up, no account, no analytics, no advertising and no cloud sync. It does not ask for your child's name, age, location, photos or contacts, and it does not send what your family reads anywhere.
Some things are saved on your device only so the app remembers where you were:
- favourites, bookmarks and reading progress
- lessons completed and little lights found
- private reflection notes
- settings such as text size and theme
These stay on the phone or tablet. Deleting the app deletes them. We cannot see them.
Read-aloud uses your device's built-in voice. The text is spoken on the device; Storyloka does not send it to us.
App stores (Apple, Google) may collect information under their own privacy policies when you download the app. That is outside our control.
This website: what we collect
- No cookies, analytics tools, advertising pixels or social trackers. See Cookies & storage.
- Server logs. Our web host automatically records standard technical data, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use it only to keep the site secure and working and to count visits. It is not used to identify or profile anyone.
- Waitlist. If you choose to join, we store your email address with our email provider so we can send you one message when Storyloka opens. Nothing else is collected.
- Things your browser remembers for you, like hidden lights you've found or your picture-hunt streak, are kept in your own browser and never sent to us.
How we use information
We use the waitlist email only to tell you that Storyloka is available, and occasionally (if you agree) to share important news about it. We never sell, rent or trade personal information, and we never use it for advertising.
Legal basis
Where data-protection laws apply, we rely on your consent for the waitlist (you can withdraw it at any time) and on our legitimate interest in running a secure website for server logs.
Who we share it with
Only service providers who help us run things, and only as needed:
| Provider | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Web host (Hostinger) | Serving this website | Server logs |
| Email provider (e.g. Brevo) | Waitlist emails | Email address |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails: until you unsubscribe, or until 12 months after launch, whichever comes first.
- Server logs: kept by our host for a short period (typically no more than 30 days) and then deleted.
Children
Storyloka is made for families with children aged 5–10, used together with a grown-up. The app collects no information from children. The website's waitlist is for grown-ups only. Read more in our children's privacy notice.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your information, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data-protection authority. To unsubscribe, use the link in any email. For anything else, contact our contact page (an email address will be added before launch). We'll reply within 30 days.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and loads no third-party scripts. Because the app keeps everything on the device, there is no central database of your family's reading for anyone to break into.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use the waitlist emails, we'll tell people on the list first.
